FACT: Dan Brown doesn’t know Italian.
If you read the English version of his book “Angels and Demons” you’ll see that the majority of the quotes in Italian are wrong. E.g.
chapter 27 ‘basta di parlare‘ should be ‘basta parlare‘
chapter 29 ‘papa‘ should be ‘papà‘
chapter 36 ‘continua cercando‘ should be ‘continua a cercare‘
chapter 46 ‘l’altare di scienza‘ should be ‘l’altare della scienza‘
chapter 55 ‘non sportarti‘ should be ‘non sporgerti‘
chapter 72 ‘bassorelievo‘ should be ‘bassorilievo‘
chapter 90 ‘hanno conosciuto l’uomo‘ should be ‘conoscevano l’uomo‘
chapter 98 ‘un’altro corpo‘ should be ‘un altro corpo‘ (without apostrophe)
This list could continue.
Probably he obtained these Italian sentences by using some kind of automatic translation system like Babelfish.
FACT: Dan Brown pretends his work to be accurate.
At the beginning of “The Da Vinci Code” you can read the following statement: “All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate.”
A SMALL DOUBT: Poor accuracy?
If this is the “level of accuracy” the author put when writing some few Italian sentences and he did not actually manage to get them right, how about the rest, how about all his theories, interpretations and the so called “facts“?
